An Indian worker was killed and three other Indian nationals were injured in a drone attack in Russia’s Moscow region on Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Moscow and the Russian Embassy in India said in separate statements. Indian embassy officials visited the attack site and met the injured workers in hospital. The mission expressed condolences and said it is working with the employer and local authorities to provide assistance. The Indian statement did not assign responsibility for the strike.
The Russian Embassy in India directly blamed Ukraine, calling the incident a Ukrainian attack on civilian facilities in the Moscow region and offering sympathy to the victim’s family and those wounded. Russian authorities, in preliminary reports, said the broader incident left more than 12 people injured in Moscow city and, across the wider Moscow region, three people killed and six others injured.
The incident occurred amid ongoing drone strikes and rising hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, which Moscow says have increasingly affected civilian infrastructure and populated areas inside Russia.
