Beijing — India’s Consul General in Shanghai, Pratik Mathur, visited the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) and held wide-ranging discussions with Chinese scholars, the Consulate said in a post on X.
Mathur took part in a “rich exchange” with eminent academics including Prof. Shao Yuqun, Dr. Xue Lei and Dr. Su Liuqiang. The talks addressed New Delhi’s priorities during its BRICS presidency and explored ways to deepen India‑China bilateral ties.
Participants reviewed recent diplomatic contacts, including Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India, and discussed restarting robust people‑to‑people links — notably the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. They also identified opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, technology and tourism.
The meeting emphasized growing interest in strengthening academic, educational and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries, the Consulate said.
On Saturday, Consul General Mathur also joined the Diplomatic Exchange Program at East China Normal University (ECNU).
