Singer D4vd’s former friend Neo Langston has distanced himself from the musician and is reportedly cooperating with authorities in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Attorney Mark Geragos said Neo’s recent moves could pose a threat to the singer, who has not been arrested or charged in the case.
Reports indicate Neo is negotiating for immunity, which could protect him legally in exchange for information relevant to the investigation.
On Instagram, Neo wrote, “… at the end of the day this case isn’t about me, it isn’t about you, it’s about getting justice for the victim and her family …”
TMZ sources say the use of the word “victim” is significant. The L.A. County Medical Examiner struggled to determine the cause of Rivas’s death, largely because of the condition of her body when it was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla.
Neo was arrested last month for failing to appear before a grand jury in the murder probe and initially provided little information.
On his private Instagram, he later posted: “Thankfully I’m legally fine in every way, AND BOI DO I GOT ALL MY RECEIPTS FOR THINGS HAHAHAHA.”
He also wrote that he had told people he trusted his side of the story, only to see it “thrown out the fkin window as soon as I get arrested and they slap that di*kheads name next to mine.”
Authorities say D4vd drove late at night from Los Angeles to a remote area in Santa Barbara in spring 2025, months before Rivas’s body was found, and rumors have suggested someone else may have accompanied him — possibly Neo.
After the discovery of Rivas’s body, Neo deleted posts featuring D4vd.
Geragos stressed the gravity of Neo’s apparent change in allegiance: “Neo is now focused on D4vd, and he is telling the story as he knows it, and this is D4vd’s worst nightmare.”
Neo is reported to be a key witness, and his account could have major implications for himself depending on his involvement, Geragos added.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body was found in two bags in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla at a tow yard in Hollywood.
Authorities have not confirmed how long the body had been in the car; some reports suggested the teen was missing for weeks.
There have been no charges announced against D4vd, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
