Iran will halt strikes against neighbouring countries unless those countries attack first, President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday, after a provisional leadership council authorised the decision.
The announcement came while Iran continued strikes in the region in retaliation for attacks on the Islamic Republic by the United States and Israel.
“They’ll take their hopes of our unconditional surrender to the grave,” Pezeshkian said, responding to US President Donald Trump’s earlier declaration that there would be “no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender” and that Tehran must submit before any diplomatic talks could begin.
