Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s last social media post has reappeared amid rumours about his death in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. There has been no word or new images from him since the X post, which appeared 24 days ago.
In the November 4 post, he attacked army chief Asim Munir: “Asim Munir is the most oppressive dictator in Pakistan’s history and a mentally unstable man. The extent of tyranny under his rule is unprecedented…. Munir, in his lust for power, is capable of doing anything,” the message from Imran’s official handle said.
Imran added that Munir had targeted him and his wife and wrote, “No political leader’s family has ever faced such cruelty. I want to make it absolutely clear once again — no matter what he does, I will neither bow down nor submit to him.”
No new photos or videos of Imran have been released since the post, and he has not been seen in public.
His son Kasim Khan said the family has been denied access for a long time and demanded “proof of life,” alleging his father is held in a “death cell with zero transparency.” The family also says they have been refused phone calls and signed notes from Imran.
Pakistani authorities have reportedly blocked doctors and lawyers from meeting the former prime minister, and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders were also turned away at the prison.
Rumours circulated that Imran was “brutally assaulted” by police after seeking a family meeting last week; police have denied those claims. The conflicting accounts have fuelled speculation over his condition, including reports of death.
Kasim warned the government would be held accountable “legally, morally and internationally” and urged the international community to “intervene urgently.”
