Singer D4vd’s former friend Neo Langston has distanced himself from the musician and is reportedly cooperating with authorities in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Attorney Mark Geragos warned Neo’s shift could pose a new threat to D4vd, who has not been arrested or charged in the case.
Sources say Neo may be negotiating immunity in exchange for information relevant to the investigation.
On Saturday, Neo posted on Instagram: “… at the end of the day this case isn’t about me, it isn’t about you, it’s about getting justice for the victim and her family …”
TMZ reported that Neo’s use of the word “victim” is significant. The L.A. County Medical Examiner struggled to establish a cause of death because of the condition of Celeste’s body when it was found in the trunk of a Tesla.
Neo was arrested last month for failing to appear before a grand jury in the murder inquiry and had previously provided little information.
On his private Instagram, he later wrote: “Thankfully I’m legally fine in every way, AND BOI DO I GOT ALL MY RECEIPTS FOR THINGS HAHAHAHA.” He added that he had told trusted people his side of the story only to have it dismissed after his arrest.
Authorities say D4vd drove late at night from Los Angeles to a remote area in Santa Barbara in spring 2025, months before Rivas’s body was discovered. Rumors have circulated that Neo may have accompanied him.
After the discovery, Neo deleted all posts featuring D4vd.
Geragos said Neo’s change in stance is serious: “Neo is now focused on D4vd, and he is telling the story as he knows it, and this is D4vd’s worst nightmare.”
Neo is believed to be a key witness, and his statements could have major implications for both him and the singer, depending on his involvement, Geragos noted.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body was recovered in two bags in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard. Authorities have not confirmed how long the body had been in the car; reports indicate the girl had been missing for weeks.
No charges have been announced against D4vd, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
