Police in Canada on Friday arrested Indian-origin fugitive Nicholas Singh after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest in 2024.
Singh, ranked #15 on the BOLO Program’s list of 25 most-wanted fugitives, had been serving a five-year, five-month and 10-day sentence for robbery and firearm-related offences when he went on the run on May 31, 2024. BOLO stands for “be on the lookout.”
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, Singh was sought by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad after he went “unlawfully at large” on May 31, and was taken into custody by Toronto Police.
The 23-year-old was previously convicted of discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent, robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm, and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. Toronto Police said he was allegedly found with a firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition when arrested.
He was located in a vehicle near Bathurst and Dupont Streets at about 11:20 p.m. on Friday and was arrested “without incident.” Authorities said the ROPE Squad had been closely tracking him and ultimately located him following a community tip.
Singh now faces new charges including:
a) Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence and registration certificate
b) Possession of a firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence
c) Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device without authority
d) Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
e) Possession of a loaded regulated firearm
f) Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
