Ever since Kapil Sharma opened his cafe in Canada in July, three shootings have been reported. The actor-comedian has broken his silence, saying he is not scared of threats.
Speaking after the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Kapil said that after every firing incident they saw bigger crowds at the cafe. “So it is all ok if god is with me,” he said.
No injuries were reported in any of the three incidents, which occurred during the wee hours. Kap’s Cafe is owned by Kapil and his wife, Ginni Chatrath.
“What I feel is that the rules there and the police perhaps don’t have power to control… But when our case happened, it went to federal government and there was a discussion in Canadian parliament,” he said.
“I got calls from a lot of people from there who told me that there were a lot of things happening, but after the firing at my cafe, it became news, and now steps are being taken to improve the law and order situation there,” Kapil added.
The first attack on the cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, was reported on July 6. At least nine shots were fired in quick succession by an unidentified person from a car. It was later claimed that Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harjit Singh alias Laddi was behind the attack.
The second shooting was reported on August 7 around 4:30 am. At least six rounds were fired at the windows. Responsibility was claimed by gangster Goldy Dhillon, who has ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In the third incident, at least three rounds were fired at the cafe on October 16. Gangsters Goldy Dhillon and Kulvir Sidhu of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have taken responsibility in a social media post.
