Pakistan on Friday again criticised Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s comment suggesting Sindh province could become part of India, calling the remarks “deeply troubling”. Singh, speaking at a Sindhi community event in New Delhi, said “borders can change” and “tomorrow Sindh may return to India.”
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi described the statement as “deeply troubling” and urged India to refrain from making such provocative remarks. At the weekly media briefing, he also raised concerns about India’s refusal to share data related to the Indus Water Treaty, calling that action a grave concern and a treaty violation.
Asked about the Pakistan-Afghanistan ceasefire, Andrabi said it was not a traditional ceasefire between states but implied a halt to attacks by Afghan-based terrorist proxies into Pakistan. He noted major terrorist attacks have occurred since the arrangement, saying the ceasefire is not holding in that sense because Afghan nationals and TTP elements have continued attacks, including in Islamabad.
Andrabi added that Pakistan’s “military preparedness is robust” and any security challenge would be dealt with seriously.
